CapitalMidwife is supported by a group of NHS Trusts within greater London.

We want to ensure that our communities have access to outstanding care, and we want to make London the number one destination for midwives across the world.

Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust

With a dedicated workforce of more than 7,500 staff and volunteers, Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) is one of the larger acute trusts in the country serving a diverse population across three London boroughs.

We deliver 8,000 babies annually as one of the largest single site maternity services in the UK, including deliveries at our co-located Birth Centre and home births.

We recognise that pregnancy and birth are really important times for women, the baby and their families. Our main priority is to provide a safe and supportive environment where the individual needs of all our patients are met with up-to-date facilities, information, and highly trained staff treating them with compassion and respect. Whether the pregnancy is straightforward or more complex, at home, in the Queen’s Birth Centre or on the Labour ward, we strive to provide excellent maternity care at all times.

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust

Our maternity and obstetrics service provides care for women and babies throughout pregnancy, labour, and the postnatal period, which usually lasts about 10 days after birth. We take pride in providing personalised, supportive services for all of our patients, whether your pregnancy is straightforward or highly complex.

Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission, published July 2019, rated our maternity service at Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea and St Mary’s hospitals as ‘outstanding’, the first rating of its kind for a maternity service in London.

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Strong roots, global reach

We are one of London’s leading maternity hospitals and care for more than 8,500 mothers and babies each year. We provide all aspects of obstetric and midwifery care, from before conception and before birth (antenatal) to birth and after delivery (postnatal). There are 2 maternity departments, one at Denmark Hill in Camberwell and at Princess Royal University Hospital – Farnborough (PRUH), both with intrapartum, postnatal /antenatal and community departments. We have a thriving midwifery led birth centre at our PRUH site and at Denmark Hill have the renowned Fetal Medicine Institute. All areas will enable you to work to develop a career pathway that will enhance your skills in all areas of midwifery.

Our expert team of midwives and doctors works hard to give women and birthing people the care and support you need to have a safe and satisfying birth. Every woman and birthing person has their own ideas about how they would like their baby to be born – whether at home or in hospital – and we do our best to help them to achieve this.

King’s College Hospital is a great place to work and there is a great sense of camaraderie among all the teams. Being part of “Team King’s” means being part of a nurturing family with values that bind us together.

Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust

At Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust people from all kinds of professions work together to deliver excellent care. We want to recruit and retain the best nurses and midwives in the NHS, so we’ll do everything we can to support you and help make your career ambitions a  reality.

We have around 22,700 staff, making us one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country and one of the biggest employers locally. We aim to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and continue to develop new and existing partnerships with local people, patients, neighbouring NHS organisations, local authorities and charitable bodies and GPs.

We strive to recruit and retain the best staff as the dedication and skills of our employees lie at the heart of our organisation and ensure that our services are of the highest quality, safe and focused on our patients.

As the only NHS Trust in London with women’s and specialist children’s services on one site we have unique opportunities to provide excellent, high-quality, integrated care for mothers, babies and children. Our maternity unit delivers over 6,000 babies every year and is based at St Thomas’ Hospital in Central London just opposite the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

We are delighted that you have chosen us to commence your career path in London.

The Trust comprises of two sites, Chelsea and Westminster and West Middlesex University Hospital. The two hospitals formally joined forces to become one NHS Foundation Trust in September 2015.  While under one management team, both hospital sites continue to provide the same clinical services as before, including full maternity, emergency and children’s services.

St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Welcome to St George’s Maternity Unit. We look forward to caring for you and your baby during your pregnancy, birth and afterwards.

St George’s Hospital, located in Tooting just 25 minutes from central London, is one of the country’s largest and busiest acute NHS Trusts. We serve a diverse population of more than 3.5 million people across south London and beyond.

Croydon Health Services NHS Trust

If you book your appointments with one of our continuity of care teams, we’ll make sure you’re cared for by the same small team of midwives. From your initial appointment all the way through to the day you give birth, we’ll provide you with comfort and familiarity when you need it most.

We know that when women have continuity of care throughout their pregnancy, particularly those with more complex health needs, they receive safer and more personalised care and build a relationship of mutual trust and respect with their midwives.

This has been proven to lead to better health outcomes for both mum and baby, reducing pre-term births, hospital admissions and the need for intervention during labour, as well as improving the experiences of both pregnancy and birth for women/birthing people

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Our vision is to lead the way in providing first class, safe maternity care that offers choice, individualised continuity and that has the family at the heart of everything we do.

We will do this by working in partnership to provide outstanding maternity services that are evidence-based and in line with the recommendations of the national maternity review ‘Better Births’.

Working as a collaborative Local Maternity System, we will build trust and break down boundaries across our area. By doing this we aim to improve the clinical outcomes and care experience for women and families using our services.

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust

We support women in having a choice where to have their baby, as having this choice has been shown to have a positive effect on the birth experience.

The choice of having a home birth or a birth in our Birth Centres will routinely be offered to you if you have a straight forward pregnancy, which means that you do not have any known complications that may affect your pregnancy and the birth and would thus receive midwife-led care throughout your maternity journey.

If your pregnancy is not straightforward, you will be offered the choice to have your baby in one of our Delivery Suites where we can provide consultant-led care. Wherever your place of birth, you will receive high quality and safe care to meet your individual needs.

We have three hospital sites that support care both in the community and the hospital. In the main this is for women who live in the boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich and Bexley.

North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust

Here at North Mid we want your birthing experience to be as positive and fulfilling as we can make it. It is often a personal choice in terms of where you want to have your baby and for that reason we offer three options: our midwifery-led unit; the consultant-led unit or home birth. The nature of your pregnancy may determine which of the three options best suits your needs.

Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust

We provide a full range of maternity care for around 4,000 mothers and their babies every year. Our maternity services are provided at both the Epsom and St Helier hospitals. Both hospitals have inpatient antenatal, postnatal facilities along with midwifery-led birth centres and obstetric-led labour wards. We also have a homebirth team that provides the full range of care to women who choose to have their baby at home.

We also have a 24/7 midwifery advice line for all women booked with us, which provides help and advice on everything from early pregnancy, screening, pregnancy and birth and infant feeding and newborn care and immunisations.

Although every woman’s pregnancy is different, all mothers will receive midwifery-led care within teams of midwives and a dedicated obstetric consultant.

As a maternal medicine hub we are able to provide expert care for women who have any medical complications and a team of obstetricians available 24 hours a day.

We take great pride in providing maternity care which is centered on personal needs and circumstances of the woman.

London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust

Welcome to our Maternity Service, we help over 4,000 mums give birth each year from our midwifery-led birthing unit and consultant-led labour wards at Northwick Park Hospital.

We serve an incredibly diverse community, with over 140 countries represented, and this diversity is reflected within our team as well.  This enables us to celebrate each mum’s individuality and ensure that their care is tailored to their needs, recognising their birth plan choices including place of birth. We are taking steps to change our maternity service for the better, come and be part of our improvement journey and help us achieve outstanding care.

We want passionate dedicated midwives to join our team, and help create an outstanding service, where our women and babies are at the centre of everything we do; where our team approach makes everyone feel the warm welcome that we offer to staff and women alike, and where we deliver evidence based care and support to all our women, whatever their personal needs.

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

We understand that having a baby is one of the most important experiences of your life.

You will have particular expectations of your birth that are important to you: where you want your baby to be born, who will be with you and the type of care you get.

For some, engaging with maternity services can be a little daunting and you will want access to appropriate information and safe guidance to help you make informed choices and decisions about your pregnancy.

The maternity team at UCLH will listen to your hopes and concerns and can suggest helpful and practical ideas to help you.
